Five Weeks Without a Name

So far my show has been pretty good.  I love the feeling I get after finishing a show.  God knew I needed this as yet another way to handle the stress of college.  Hopefully I can spend more time here at the station once I get this time management thing figured out.  So far, the idea of coming an hour before my show to work back here in the office seems to flow pretty well. I'll have to keep trying this.

I promise a show name soon.  No matter whether my show has a name or not, we'll still rock your cottage!

The Time has Come

I've waited and waited. I did some school work and waited some more. Now it's here. God has given me the opportunity to revitalize my show on WVMM! The blessings don't stop there, however. I will be contributing to the V in more ways than I ever imagined! It's incredible when I stop to think about it. With these changes, I will be renaming my show. The Squeaky Show is a great name and everything, but it just sounds like something a college student wouldn't name her show. Besides, the two people who even dubbed me as "Squeaky" when I lost my voice have definitely moved on with their lives, and probably forget that they came up with that name for me. So that brings me to my question, what should I name my show? I don't even know where to begin with that process. I guess the best thing to do would be to ask my readers, providing I actually have some. Comment on this post, or contact me through my profile. Maybe all of us can collaborate on what I'm supposed to name my show.

Not this summer...

Unfortunately, I will not be having a show this summer. WVMM will not be on this summer, and there's a statement about the decision at www.messiah.edu/wvmm. This would have been my fifth summer on the V.(I was planning to party all summer while on the airwaves ;-) but oh well.) At the same time it will be nice to take some time off, as this is already turning into a big summer, with looking for scholarships, and getting ready to apply for Messiah College, which hopefully i can get done before my 18th birthday. This reminds me that i need to go register to vote.(everyone else who is eligible should also go do the same.) So i'm glad i didn't have to squeeze a few things in there. I'm not sure if this not being on during the summer is going to be a trend, but we'll have to see once we get there. The Squeaky Show will however return someday. if not next summer, than in the fall of 2009. it will be a bit different reporting weather when it's cold, but it could be fun! I should note that i passed my Senior High Project! so those past two summers of radio were totally worthwhile. In fact, i handed in my completed portfolio a few weeks ago, so by now i should be good to graduate. i'm very happy, and ready to complete my final year in high school.

a lovely surprise

it turns out that i need to do another show! i need to get another show recorded for my project, and the recording didn't work during the summer. so stay tuned for announcements regarding the details of this special show. i'm not sure how many of my friends will listen, because it'll be starting at 8 in the morning. but hey, it's something.

SHP Day

I now declare Columbus Day to also be Senior High Project Day. that's right, SHP day. at least, tomorrow will be for me. i'm going to work on as much as i can, and catch up on some much needed emails to people involved with my SHP, such as my mentor. i also need to have a brain storming session and start typing my paper. i think the plan right now is to just go about typing my paper like i did for that paper i did last summer. i just start at the beginning and work my way through the time period of the project. from there, i can figure out how to focus things, and how my intro and conclusion should be and items such as that. hopefully that'll work. at least if i just write out my experiences it'll be a start to something. because if i try to tack on guidlines and such, it become one giant mess of writer's block. but if it just flows, than i can fix it later. i also need to read up on a few books, and probably start a second document writing out what i learned from that. i also need to start my bibliography of these books. i hope to get a few solid hours of work done on this. i'm planning on only breaking for lunch and a trip to AC Moore. and then around supper time i'll be able to stop and rest, and practice piano and guitar. head over to the Abby's Thoughts blog to read up more about this whole thing with me writing songs.

who knew?

My blog is worth $2,258.16. How much is your blog worth?

so it turns out that this blog is actually worth something. i don't know how they figure this stuff out. but i found this website, and you can type in the address of a blog, and it'll tell you how much the blog is worth. my "Abby's Thoughts" blog isn't worth a penny. but that's okay, because i still enjoy having it. it's a nice way to put out some of those interesting ideas swimming around in my brain. just in case anyone was interested in reading them. so i was quite surprised to know that this is actually worth something. and no, this has nothing to do with my SHP. although maybe i can add this as a little side note during my presentation...

And the Most excited about SHP award goes to...

Me! well, this is according to two of my friends who are seniors at my school. one of them already did her SHP, and the other has yet to present. this means she doesn't have any senior privledges this year. i was talking to these two individuals yesterday morning before school about SHP, and telling them how i will be presenting on April 17th. this made them a little mad because they had to present last year on April 5th, so they don't think it's fair that i have more time. but i was so excited about it because i have all the hours done, i just need to write the paper, prepare for the presentation, and get all my other paperwork together for my portfolio. that's when one of my friends told me i've got to be the most excited person about Senior High Project in this school. i told her it's because i did/am doing something i love. i truely believe that it makes all the difference. so, i'll keep using those extra long study halls to work on my paper, and we'll see how everything goes.

done for now

Yesterday was my last show of the summer. i will be back in june of 2008 to continue the Squeaky Show. The show went really well. i had a School theme and a Goodbye theme. i had more songs in my Good bye theme this time around. so that was really nice. now i need to get crackin' on my paper and presentation . we recorded my show yesterday, and so hopefully that all worked out so i can use that. see, i want to compare how i was last year when i was recorded to this year. i want to show how i've improved. so another portion of this year has ended. summer's gone. the 2007 Squeaky Show is gone, and school is knocking at the door. as much as i would love to continue my show during the school year, i'm glad to have this break. i know it wouldn't be possible for me to do school and a show at the same time. so, all this means i won't be posting quite as much. but you can check out my other blog, and find out about all those weirdo thoughts that go through my head. i will try my best to update this during the year as i am working on my paper and stuff. and i will post how my presentation goes and everything. but that won't be quite as much as i have been posting.

100!

i'm officially at 100 hours! my best guess is that i'll have 120 or so by the time i'm done with the entire project. yesterday went really well. that special theme is going to happen on wednesday. And then i'll have my two themes for the last show of the summer. those two themes are School and Good-bye. i'll be making a list of songs for each theme, and play those sometime during the hour. in fact, i made a list of those songs. so it should be very exciting.

the final stretch

I calculated my hours today after my show. and i have 98 hours. only two more to go! well, actually, i have a lot more hours before i'm finished. but i have two more before i get to the 100 minimum. Some new Christian CDs came in since last week, so i got to play some newer things. i had lots of energy because i passed my driver's test today! i tried some more talking during the beginning of the song thing. and at the end of my show i actually told everyone what show they had been listening to for the past two hours. i just need to work on announcing that more often. i also need to get another show recorded. maybe i'll try to get that done for friday.
